Government Grants and Subsidies for MSMEs and Manufacturers – Central and State Schemes

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Central and state governments offer capital subsidies, interest subvention, incentives and reimbursements to businesses that invest, hire or export. Expertvuw’s team maps the schemes you may qualify for, prepares applications and tracks claims. Approval is at the discretion of the scheme authority.

Overview

Where Business Subsidies Come From

Government support for businesses in India comes from two main sources. Central schemes — run by ministries such as MSME, Commerce, Food Processing and Electronics — include credit guarantees, technology upgradation support, cluster development, certification reimbursements, export incentives and production-linked incentives for specified sectors. State industrial and sector policies offer capital investment subsidies, interest subvention, stamp duty and electricity duty exemptions, SGST-linked incentives and employment subsidies, usually for new or expanding units in the state.

Eligibility depends on factors such as enterprise size under the Udyam classification, sector, location, investment amount, date of commercial production and employment created. Most schemes require applications within a set time from investment or production, and claims must be backed by audited figures and certificates.

Because schemes change often, eligibility should be checked against the scheme notification and guidelines in force when you invest.

Basis: Ministry of MSME and other central scheme guidelines; state industrial and sector policies; MSMED Act, 2006 (Udyam classification); scheme notifications in force. Last updated: 27 September 2026.
