Last updated: 2 October 2026
A disclaimer clarifies what your content is — and is not — so readers do not treat general information as personal advice or a guarantee. Expertvuw’s team drafts disclaimers suited to your industry and the rules that apply to it.
A disclaimer is a notice that limits how content should be relied on — for example, stating that articles are general information and not legal, tax, financial or medical advice; that results vary; or that external links are not endorsed. It works together with your terms of service, which set out limits of liability.
Some sectors have specific disclosure rules. Content about securities and investments can cross into regulated activity: SEBI requires registration for investment advice and research, and restricts unregistered persons from giving such advice or associating with regulated entities for it. Health and finance influencers are expected to disclose qualifications under ASCI guidelines, and endorsements must disclose material connections under the Consumer Affairs Department’s endorsement guidelines. Professionals such as advocates and chartered accountants have their own advertising restrictions.
A disclaimer cannot make misleading content lawful or exclude liability that the law does not allow to be excluded — accurate content comes first.
Basis: Indian Contract Act, 1872; Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (misleading advertisements, endorsements); CCPA Endorsement Guidelines (2023); ASCI influencer guidelines; SEBI (Investment Advisers) and (Research Analysts) Regulations. Last updated: 27 September 2026.
