Last updated: 2 October 2026
To distribute mutual funds in India, you need an AMFI Registration Number (ARN) and NISM certification. Expertvuw’s team guides individuals, firms and companies through certification, KYD, ARN application, EUINs for employees and renewals.
Mutual fund distributors in India must be registered with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and hold an AMFI Registration Number (ARN), as required under SEBI’s mutual fund regulations and circulars. Individuals must first pass the NISM Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors certification examination.
Applicants complete Know Your Distributor (KYD) verification, which is now done online using PAN and Aadhaar authentication, and then apply for the ARN through AMFI’s process (with KFintech/CAMS as the registrar). Corporate distributors — companies, LLPs and partnership firms — register as entities, and each employee who interacts with investors needs an Employee Unique Identification Number (EUIN) and NISM certification.
An ARN is linked to the validity of the NISM certificate and is generally valid for three years. Renewal requires re-certification or continuing professional education, and distributors file an annual self-declaration of compliance with AMFI’s code of conduct.
