ISO 22000 combines HACCP principles with a management system approach to food safety. Expertvuw’s team sets up prerequisite programmes, hazard analysis and the FSMS documentation, and prepares you for audit by an accredited certification body.
ISO 22000:2018 sets requirements for a food safety management system (FSMS) for any organisation in the food chain — from farms and processors to packers, storage, transport, caterers and packaging makers. It combines prerequisite programmes (PRPs) for hygiene and infrastructure, hazard analysis based on Codex HACCP principles, and management system elements such as objectives, internal audit and improvement.
Many large buyers and retailers ask for a scheme recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), such as FSSC 22000, which is built on ISO 22000 plus sector-specific PRPs and additional requirements. ISO 22000 is often the first step towards it.
In India, an FSMS works alongside FSSAI licensing, where Schedule 4 hygiene requirements and FSSAI’s own food safety audit framework apply.
Basis: ISO 22000:2018; Codex Alimentarius General Principles of Food Hygiene (HACCP); ISO/TS 22002 series for PRPs; Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and FSSAI Schedule 4. Last updated: 27 September 2026.
