Home / Insurance — IRDAI / IRDAI Annual Compliance

Last updated: 2 October 2026
Brokers, corporate agents, IMFs and web aggregators have recurring IRDAI obligations — returns, audited accounts, net worth, indemnity cover and people certification. Expertvuw’s team runs your compliance calendar, including the move to perpetual registration and annual fees from 2026.
The Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025 introduced one-time (perpetual) registration for insurance intermediaries, and the IRDAI (Insurance Intermediaries) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, notified on 30 July 2026, put it into effect for corporate agents, brokers, IMFs, web aggregators and common public service centre entities. Instead of renewing every three years, intermediaries pay an annual fee — for many, the higher of ₹10,000 or 0.04% of remuneration.
Existing intermediaries must obtain new certificates within the timeline set by IRDAI (31 January 2027, with a late fee window after that). From 1 January 2027, each policy must be tagged to the individual who sold it. The amendment also made professional indemnity insurance mandatory for eligible corporate agents and introduced an NOC process when designated persons move between intermediaries.
Ongoing obligations continue: audited accounts and annual returns, net worth and auditor certificates, business and remuneration statements, grievance reports, training and certification of sales staff, and changes in directors, shareholding or Principal Officer reported as prescribed. TPAs and surveyors remain on renewal cycles for now.
