DSC for DGFT – Digital Signature for IEC, Export Incentives and Trade Filings

Last updated: 2 October 2026

Importers and exporters sign many DGFT and customs filings digitally — IEC updates, authorisations, RoDTEP and certificates of origin. Expertvuw’s team gets you a Class 3 DSC and registers it on the DGFT and ICEGATE portals.

Overview

Where DSCs Are Used in Foreign Trade

The DGFT portal lets IEC holders sign applications either with a Class 3 DSC or with Aadhaar-based e-signature for eligible users. A DSC is widely used for IEC applications and annual updates, applications for Advance Authorisation and EPCG, certificates of origin, and other DGFT services.

On the customs side, ICEGATE registration requires a Class 3 DSC for authentication, and the same DSC is used to access refund and incentive information. Organisations with several people filing on DGFT can link multiple authorised users, each with their own DSC.

Only Class 3 certificates are issued, by Certifying Authorities licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA). The DSC name should match the PAN and IEC records to avoid registration errors.

Basis: Information Technology Act, 2000; CCA guidelines (Class 3 only); DGFT portal user guidance; CBIC ICEGATE registration guidelines. Last updated: 27 September 2026.
